Oneonta Career Center is hosting a community JOB Fair! Many employers and occupations will be represented.  The event is Thursday April 18, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Little Brick Church located at 112 2nd Ave. West, Oneonta AL 35121.  Bring a resume and dress for success! The Blount County Master Gardeners annual plant sale is April 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the L & N Depot in Oneonta.  The depot is located at 28117 State Highway 75.  There will be a variety of vegetable transplants, annuals, perennials and shrubs.  Proceeds from this sale are used to fund projects here in Blount County , such as the Community Garden at Oneonta Public Library, youth and adult garden projects and education.

Special recycling dumpster service day is Saturday, April 27th from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. located at 115 Jack Fendley Avenue past Woodland Scout Park and Blount County 911.  Normal recycling weekly on Thursdays 7 am to 6 pm.  There are receptacles for plastics, mixed papers, cardboard, and aluminum cans.

The annual Blount County Children’s Center Blue Ribbon Dinner will be Tuesday, April, 30 at Anchors Church in Oneonta. Advance tickets are required.  Please call 205-274-7226 for information.

Team Nancy & Shannon, Sweet HomeLife Real Estate, and Brothers Q present the O’So Good BBQ Festival.  This year’s festival will be held at the Historic L & N Depot at Oneonta Park and Rec. next to Jacks in Oneonta AL on Saturday, May 4th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a free concert starting at 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm.

The O’So Good BBQ Festival benefits the Oscar Bothwell Scholarship Fund and is awarded to local students each year.  Food Trucks and Arts and Crafts vendors will be at the event.  FREE admission but donations to the scholarship fund are accepted.

Ashley Allen, a local science teacher at Oneonta High School, invites you to an interest meeting for a Natural History program/museum for the Oneonta and Blount County communities. The general public and all interested parties are invited to attend the meeting to explore the possibility of establishing a Natural History program or museum for the area.  The meeting is on May 7th, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Arts Center at 6801 2nd Ave. West, Oneonta AL

The Secure Shred Truck will be in Oneonta Saturday May, 11th.  The truck will be located at the Oneonta Public Library (221 2nd Street South, Oneonta) from 9:00 a.m. until noon.  Anyone may drop off up to three bags or boxes of paper for free! There is no need to remove paper clips or staples but 3 ring binders, electronics, or medical hazardous waste materials are prohibited.
